Terms & Conditions of Enrolment

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made directly with English in Scarborough (“the School”, “we”, “us”, “our”) for our English language courses, accommodation, activities and associated services. By registering/enrolling you accept these Terms.

Booking & Payment

A deposit of £150 (non-refundable) must be paid to reserve a place. The balance of all fees must be paid at least 30 days before the course start date. Bookings made less than 30 days before the start date must be paid in full immediately. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel enrolment if payment is not received in time. All payments must be in GBP or our listed currency; bank charges are borne by you.

Course Changes & Cancellation by School

The School reserves the right to cancel a course if minimum numbers are not met, or to change the course venue, timetable, staffing or content. In such cases you will be offered a full refund of tuition fees or transfer to another course. The School is not liable for travel, accommodation or other costs incurred by you in the event of cancellation or change.

Cancellation & Refund by Student

If you cancel more than 30 days before the course start date: refund of tuition fees minus deposit. If you cancel 30 days or fewer before the start date: no refund of tuition fees (except at our discretion). If you leave the course early, no refund will be given for the remaining weeks unless otherwise agreed in writing. Refunds will be made within 90 days of receipt of your bank details.

Accommodation & Activities

Accommodation is booked for the full period you select. Extra nights must be requested and paid for. Homestay families/hosts are selected by the School; while we do our best to match preferences, we cannot guarantee specific hosts. Should you take a holiday or be absent for any period, you remain liable for the full fee. Activities may be changed or cancelled due to weather or other conditions.

Visa and Immigration

Students are responsible for acquiring their own visa. Full fees must be paid before invitation letter is issued. The School cannot guarantee visa approval; in the event of visa refusal you will be eligible for a refund less the non-returnable deposit of £150 and an admin fee to cover costs incurred.

Student Behaviour & Welfare

Students must follow the School’s policies regarding attendance, punctuality, behaviour and accommodation. The School reserves the right to terminate enrolment without refund if the student’s behaviour is disruptive or breaches School rules.

Liability

The School accepts responsibility only for the services it directly provides. We are not liable for losses caused by third parties, travel, theft, illness or other forces beyond our control. You are recommended to have full travel and health insurance for the duration of your stay. The School’s liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to the School.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
